Some people help in ways that never appear on a list — lending a hand on the night, photographing a recital, telling exactly the right person about us. Their help counts as much.
What it takes
The work is ours. Ien and I invite the pianists, plan each season, print the programs, and run the evening itself — the setting up, the hosting, the clearing away.
So is the money: the tuning, the dessert, the drinks. Nothing from a ticket pays for any of it, which is how every dollar of one reaches the pianist.
What patrons give lightens both. It covers costs we would otherwise meet ourselves, and it lets us pay for help on the night. Some give once, some each season, and some have taken on a whole evening.
The Lilacs Recital Series is Op21No5, Corp., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and gifts are tax-deductible.
