About Alexandra

Alexandra Dovgan was born in 2007 into a family of musicians and began her piano studies at the age of four and a half. At five, she passed the highly competitive selection process to join the Academic Central Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory, where she studied under Mira Marchenko. She is currently continuing her education at the Ateneo de Música in Malaga. Her musical development has been deeply influenced by her creative relationship with Grigory Sokolov.

Alexandra is a prize-winner of multiple international piano competitions. At age ten she won a major Grand Prix in Moscow, with recordings of that performance broadcast worldwide on Medici.TV and YouTube.

She has performed in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Philharmonie and Konzerthaus in Berlin, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Tonhalle in Zurich, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Konserthuset in Stockholm, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.

Following her acclaimed recital at the Salzburg Festival, she has appeared with leading orchestras and conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Paavo Järvi and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Ton Koopman and the Stockholm Philharmonic, Kazushi Ono and the Barcelona Symphony, and Pietari Inkinen with the Bergen Philharmonic.

The distinguishing characteristics of Alexandra’s pianism are her spontaneous depth and consciousness, together with a sound of remarkable beauty and precision. There is no element of showmanship or mere technical display in her playing, but rather intense concentration combined with purity of expression and creative imagination.

In June 2024, she received the Prix Serdang from Rudolf Buchbinder and Adrian Flury in recognition of her achievements and already significant career.
